Kelly Carter promoted to Chief Program Officer
Brookfield, Wis. – Community Care, Inc., has announced the promotion of Kelly Carter, RN, to the position of Chief Program Officer. Carter will replace Ed Kohl, who has been with the organization for nearly 20 years.
Since joining Community Care in 1999, Carter has helped expand two of the organization’s care programs – Partnership and the Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). Both programs help adults with long-term care needs live as independently as possible. In addition to expanding the PACE program to a total of four counties, Carter helped to open Community Care day centers in Milwaukee, Racine, and Waukesha. She also helped develop Community Care’s relationship with several Milwaukee-area religious orders. Carter has also served on the National PACE Association (NPA) board of directors.
“Over the past 25 years, Kelly has been instrumental in the success of the organization and leading many changes throughout her tenure at Community Care,” said CEO Kenneth Munson. “Her passion for her work, as both nurse and leader, is incomparable.”
As a registered nurse, Carter has held roles in both direct care and administration, including positions as a site administrator and public health nurse in the City of Milwaukee Health Department. In 2021, Carter was selected as one of BizTimes Milwaukee’s Notable Minority Executives.
Kohl, who joined the organization in 2007, was instrumental in helping Community Care expand to serve more seniors and adults with disabilities in Wisconsin. He will stay with organization as a part-time senior advisor before his retirement.
“While we will miss the wisdom and experience Ed brought to our organization, I am pleased to have Kelly step into this new role,” Munson said. “Our leadership team is extremely fortunate to have such a wealth of experience to draw from.”
