Benefits During a Disaster
Community Care will help you, even when disaster strikes.
Community Care is required to follow special rules in case of a disaster or an emergency. When the President, Governor or Secretary of Health and Human Services declares a disaster or public emergency, Community Care will make sure you have access to benefits and services:
- We will cover the Medicare Parts A , B and C services that you receive from an out-of-network providers;
- We will waive requirements for referrals and authorizations, if applicable;
- We will provide the same cost-sharing as if the service or benefit was provided by a network provider;
- We will cover prescriptions filled at an out-of-network pharmacy, if you cannot use a network pharmacy;
- We will make these changes immediately when notified of a disaster or public emergency.
These protections will remain in place until:
- The President, Governor or Secretary of Health and Human Services declares an end to the disaster or public emergency.
- CMS declares an end of the disaster or public emergency.
- Thirty days have passed since the declaration of the disaster or public emergency.
If Community Care is unable to resume normal business operations due to a disaster or public emergency, we will notify CMS.
